FOG MACHINE BUYING GUIDE

What would any Yard Haunt, Graveyard Display or Halloween Party be without a thick layer of fog floating ominously through the night air?

But which fog machine to buy?
fog3-4.jpg (9338 bytes)One of our goals while attending the Halloween and Costume Convention in Chicago this year was to locate a Consumer Level fog machine that we could recommend to our readers. It had to be well built, meet the demands of the general Halloween consumer, but be relatively inexpensive. The machine would have to be capable of producing generous amounts of fog yet be easy to operate and have accessories available such as a timer-remote. This year we recommend buying your fog machines at
Halloween Effects. They carry a full line of Chauvet brand fog machines, effect machines and lighting.

What we mean by "Consumer Level"
In general, most people don't need a fog machine that costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars. While professional class fog generators are great, they are also very expensive. For the general Halloween consumer their fog machine(s) will only be used one or two nights a year, for five to ten hours. This means that its running time will be no where near that of a professional machine that might be used hundreds of hours per year. This doesn't mean we were looking for cheap fog machines, but inexpensive ones, that would operate year after year within these parameters.

Choosing a Fog Machine
Another thing that's happened as a result of heightened interest is that the price of more powerful fog machines has come down substantially. You can now buy a high-output fog machine that would have cost five-hundred dollars a few years ago for under a hundred dollars.

We've spent the last month analyzing the input from our "Consumer Fog Machine Testing", competing several different fog machines against each other in what we call "The Fog Machine Showdown". All three Eliminator fog machines tested produced levels of fog as expected and seemed to have a quicker re-heat cycle than many of the other consumer level fog machines.

Our pick for this year's top consumer-level fog machine is the "Eliminator" line of consumer and semi-professional fog machines. Below are our picks for the best of the best in fog machines for Halloween!

Eliminator EF400
The Eliminator model EF400 Fog Machine from Halloween Effects has a 400 watt heater and works great for small area's, particularly indoors for a Halloween party.

The set comes with a basic 10' wired remote control and one pint of Eliminator brand Fog Juice. This fogger uses only water based fog juice and displaces 1,500 cubic feet of fog per minute.

Eliminator E119
The Eliminator model E-119 Fog Machine from Halloween Effects has a powerful 700 Watt Heater and works well in larger area's.

The set includes a basic 10' wired remote control and one quart of fog fluid. This fogger uses only water based fog juice and displaces 3,500 cubic feet of fog per minute.

Eliminator EF1000
The Eliminator model EF-1000 fog machine from Halloween Effects has a powerful 1000 watt heater produces lots of fog and works great outdoors.

The set comes with a basic 10' wired remote control and one quart of fog fluid. This fogger uses only water based fog juice and displaces 4,500 cubic feet of fog per minute.

Timer Remote Control
Most fog machines include a cabled manually operated remote control. When you want the fog machine to stream fog, you hold down the button. The problem with this type of remote is that you to operate it every time you need fog.

The number one accessory for any fog machine is a Remote Timer Controller. These have both a timer and volume control that allow you to set how often you want the fog machine to come on and what volume you want it to produce.

"Your Trick or Treaters will be thrilled and impressed with this eerie touch"
